Dear Business Partner,
to supplement our existing Class EA, F and FA system solutions, we recently introduced the screened RJ45 module unilan® MS-K Plus. This module meets all of the requirements for Class 6A in the new component standard IEC 60603-7-51.
But what exactly is the new component standard? What is so important about the subscript "A"? And what are the differences between the new and the existing standards?
The DKE (German Electrotechnical, Electronics and information Technology Committee) in the DIN and VDE department GUK 715.3 published an expert's report including clear tables throwing light on this obscure area of national and international standards, labelling and limit values.
The committee’s report and tables can be seen in the News section on our website (in German language). An English version of the technical report is available from the DKE Document Service (DKE-Schriftstückservice) in Frankfurt for a contribution towards costs.
Best regards
Your Daetwyler Cables team

OM3+ fibre = OM4 fibre!
The characteristics of our fibres are identical to the new standard
TIA/EIA standard G50/125 µm multi-mode fibre OM4 has now also been included in the international and European wiring standard (ISO/IEC 11801, EN 50173). The parameters defined there are identical to the parameters of the OM3+ fibre from Daetwyler Cables! We have been calling our improved OM3 fibres "OM3+" for quite a few years now. You can use our OM3+ fibres to transmit 10 Gbit/s over more than 300 meters with a transmission wavelength of 850 nm.
In future we will label these fibres - and the respective cables - as "OM4". But you will still receive cables with the label "OM3+" from stock in the meantime. |
Black is beautiful
FO distribution frames to be available with painted drawers
When you order our pull-out fibre-optic distribution frames OV-A and OV-AT (OV-AT with telescopic extension) in future, you will get them with black painted metal drawers. The reason for this is not the looks - when the box is mounted, the drawers cannot actually be seen. Rather, the advantage of the black drawers is that you can better identify the fibres themselves, together with the fibre rests, as well as any dirt!
Please contact us if you need any further information. |
Save energy with KNX building automation
Up to 50 percent savings can be made!
To increase the energy efficiency of residential and functional buildings, it is essential to have intelligent building automation to control and regulate all of the relevant systems and equipment. It pays to "network" different areas with KNX based building automation, especially in winter. Current research results show that energy savings of up to 50 percent can be achieved with this kind of solution.
More on this subject and on the modular ecobus® product groups from Daetwyler Cables can be found in the current English edition of our customer magazine "Panorama Cables" - here as PDF file - on pages 12-13. |
FTTH outlets and cables for every requirement
Easy to install FTTH Inhouse range from Daetwyler Cables
As part of our FTTH range we offer modular, multi-design and energy-saving wall outlets for surface- and flush-mounting in the home. They are particularly "flat" as well as being extremely versatile when it comes to configuration and fitting. As an option, the FTTH flush-mounting outlets are also available as hybrid models with two additional copper connections for combinations of existing LAN, telephone and xDSL connections.
Our FTTH Inhouse range also includes special two- and four-fibre FO cables in Coating core and air-spaced, paper-insulated, tightly wrapped core designs. These can be laid quickly and easily even in more complex duct installations. The reason is that they are very thin, with outside diameters of only 2.2 and 2.8 millimeters, and that they are equipped with glass fibres with optimised bending characteristics. |
Daetwyler Cables exhibiting
Broadband + Energy Efficiency = Fibre-Optic Cable Technology
The first trade and public fair on fibre-optic technology is taking place at the Adlershof Science and Technology Park in Berlin on the 30th June and 1st July. The fair's slogan is "Broadband + Energy Efficiency = Fibre-Optic Technology". The concept has a practical orientation and is based on three pillars: exhibition, workshops - for local government representatives as well as for tradespeople and engineers - and supplementary technical modules and plenary sessions. The subjects dealt with range from FTTx networks and technologies, through Smart Metering and Smart Grid to computer centre solutions.
Daetwyler Cables will have a stand at this event and will be contributing in two technical modules on the subjects of FTTx and Smart Metering as well as in the Tradespeople Meeting Point on the subject of fibre-optic technology.

FTTH total services project for Daetwyler Cables
Swiss township of Dietlikon starting with a pilot project
Daetwyler Cables is now involved in various Fibre-to-the-Home projects. The Swiss township of Dietlikon has given us the contract for a turnkey solution. As the FTTH total services contractor we are first implementing an FTTH pilot project - together with local partners - which ought to be handed over as early as August. Once the pilot project has run successfully, in January 2011, Daetwyler Cables will start on the planning and implementation of the FTTH network for the rest of the municipality.
The full case study and other reference projects in English language can be found here.
